Trijata

Trijata is a compassionate rakshasi (demoness) in the Ramayana, assigned to guard the abducted Sita in Lanka. Unlike her counterparts, Trijata becomes Sita’s confidante and protector. In the Sundara Kanda, she recounts a prophetic dream foretelling Ravana’s downfall and Rama’s victory, urging fellow demonesses to treat Sita with respect. When Sita is shown an illusory severed head of Rama by Ravana, Trijata reassures her of its falsity and Rama’s well-being. Her empathy and support provide Sita with solace during her captivity. Trijata’s actions exemplify loyalty and kindness, highlighting her unique role among the rakshasas.
